Bantu Connect Family Services was established to address the emergence and need for African-Australian culturally specific children and family services. Our objective is to keep African-Australian children within culturally appropriate home environments, absorbed in culture.
Our engagement approach is guided by 'Ubuntu' principles where the sense of self is shaped by our relationships with others - those around us. Our bonds as people of African heritage form our identities and we exist because 'we belong'. We stand for humanity, compassion and solidarity.
We imagine African-Australian communities that are connected, cultured, empowered and thriving. Communities where parents, guardians, carers and their families are supported to care for, raise and nurture children in a new land, while preserving culture and integrating into the future.
We are committed to leading the path towards culturally appropriate and culturally sensitive practices where we focus on genuine, and lasting relationships with everyone we work with.
We are commited to closing the gap and pledge to provide cultural awareness and education so that African-Australian children and their families may be heard.
